【摘要】:DimensionalChangeWhenCompactingandSinteringMetalPowders:Thedimensionalchangevalueobtainedunderspecifiedconditionsofcompactingandsinteringisamaterialcharacteristicinherentinthepowder.Thetestisusefulforqualitycontrolofthedimensionalchangeofametalpowdermixture,tomeasurecompositionalandprocessingchangesandtoguideintheproductionofPMparts.Theabsolutedimensionalchangemaybeusedtoclassifypowdersordifferentiateonetypeorgradefromanother,toevaluateadditionstoapowdermixtureortomeasureprocesschanges,andtoguideinthedesignoftooling.Thecomparativedimensionalchangeismainlyusedasaqualitycontroltesttomeasurevariationsbetweenalotorshipmentofmetalpowderandareferencepowderofthesamematerialcomposition.Factorsknowntoaffectsizechangearethebasemetalpowdergrade,typeandlot,particlesizedistribution,levelandtypesofadditionstothebasemetalpowder,amountandtypeoflubricant,greendensity,aswellasprocessingconditionsofthetestspecimen;heatingrate,sinteringtimeandtemperature,sinteringatmosphere,andcoolingrate.DimensionalChangeofVariousPMProcessingSteps:ThegeneralprocedureofmeasuringthedieoratestcompactbeforeandafteraPMprocessingstep,andcalculatingapercentdimensionalchangeisalsoadaptedforuseasaninternalprocessevaluationtesttoquantifygreenexpansion,repressingsizechange,heattreatmentchangesorotherchangesindimensionsthatresultfromamanufacturingoperation.1.1Thisstandardcoversatestmethodthatmaybeusedtomeasurethesumofthechangesindimensionsthatoccurwhenametalpowderisfirstcompactedintoatestspecimenandthensintered.1.2Thedimensionalchangeisdeterminedbyaquantitativelaboratoryprocedureinwhichthearithmeticdifferencebetweenthedimensionsofadiecavityandthedimensionsofasinteredtestspecimenproducedfromthatdieiscalculatedandexpressedasapercentgrowthorshrinkage.1.3Withtheexceptionofdensityvalues,forwhichtheg/cm3unitistheindustrystandard,thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.TheSIequivalentsshowninparentheses,havebeenconvertedinaccordancewithIEEE/ASTMStandardSI10,maybeapproximate,andareonlyforinformation.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
